Interactive Vaulting is a specialty program sanctioned with PATH International, which certifies instructors. As a group activity, 4-6 vaulters and one horse, Interactive Vaulting fosters social and behavioral development through games and learning activities on and around the horse. Practice on a vaulting barrel assures that safety policies and procedures are met, as well as allowing vaulters a chance to learn their skills prior to mounting the horse. The benefits of physical exercise and development of balance, strength and coordination are expected outcomes with vaulting participation. Additionally, learning about horse care, horse anatomy and general horsemanship skills are included within the curriculum. Interactive Vaulting is for individuals who can walk independently on uneven surfaces without assistive devices. Participants must have listening and cognitive skills to follow directions to maintain safety.
