April 3, 2025(1 event) Kennebunk Park and Rec Riding Group - Spring 1 Session – Our community lesson program teaches a variety of equestrian sports and horse care skills in a fun, safe, and inclusive way. As a designated U.S. Pony Club Riding Center, our teaching principles are built around the practices and proficiencies of the U.S. Pony Club curriculum. Traditional education in dressage, eventing, hunter seat equitation and horse management is offered in 30-minute privates (ages 5-11), 45-minute privates (ages 10 and up), or one-hour group lesson formats. Group lessons are only offered to riders who can manage their horse safely and independently. All riding times include a short grooming and tacking up time, with the exception of the 30-minute session which will start with the horse tacked up and ready, then finish with a short brush down at the end. Riders of all ages and abilities are eligible to participate in our community lesson program, provided they are able to ride without sidewalking or horse handling support. Beginner riders may start on the lunge line with the instructor as they build their independent skills. Riders who participate in Carlisle’s formal Pony Club or Little Boots Program typically sign up for weekly riding lessons in the community lesson program, although are not required to. Through our partnership with Kennebunk Parks & Recreation, we also offer an introduction to riding and horse care in a group riding lesson. Carlisle Academy’s Group Riding Lessons Program encompasses both mounted and unmounted instruction for elementary-aged youth in a fun learning environment. Download the flyer here for more information.

April 26, 2025(2 events) Little Boots – Carlisle’s Little Boots Program is a USPC Center-Based Program promoting the Pony Club curriculum and its values. It is designed for the young equestrian ages 5-11 as an introduction to horse care and horse management education which is foundational for the Pony Club standards. At this stage, age-appropriate games/skills, safety, and fun are at the center of all group activities including riding time. During the 6 Saturday morning two-hour sessions, students are assisted by the upper-level PC members and Carlisle certified instructors. The program includes a 30-minute group riding lesson and additional horse management learning stations. Pony Club – Pony Club will hold unmounted/mounted meetings for 6 Saturdays in 2025. Each meeting addresses the levels of Pony Club proficiency in riding and horse management, working towards the individual’s certification track. All participants may go at their own pace and are not required to attend rallies. A group riding lesson is also included. |
